Hair Restoration - PRP Injections

For the thing you've been quietly hoping someone could actually help with.

Hair loss is one of those experiences that happens in private long before it's addressed in public. You notice it first. In the shower drain, in photographs, in the way your part looks different than it used to. For most people, there's a significant gap between when it starts and when they do anything about it — because finding something that genuinely works, delivered by someone who handles it with the care it deserves, takes longer than it should.

PRP hair restoration is one of the most evidence-supported treatments available for hair thinning and early to moderate hair loss. It works with your scalp's own biology — stimulating the follicles that are still active, extending their growth phase, and creating the conditions for real, measurable improvement over time.

No surgery. No side effects from systemic medication. Just your own growth factors, delivered precisely where they're needed.

What it Treats:

PRP scalp injections are most effective for androgenetic alopecia — the most common form of hair loss in both men and women — as well as diffuse thinning and hair loss related to stress, hormonal shifts, postpartum changes, or nutritional deficiency.

Most effective for:

Early to moderate hair thinning · Receding hairline · Diffuse shedding · Postpartum hair loss · Stress-related hair loss · Maintaining existing hair density · Supporting hair transplant recovery

The best candidates are those who still have active follicles in the areas being treated. PRP cannot regenerate follicles that are fully dormant — which is why earlier intervention consistently produces better results than waiting.

What to Expect:

A small blood draw starts the appointment — the same process as PRP facial treatments. While the plasma is being processed, the scalp is numbed using a topical or local anaesthetic. Emily takes the time to ensure you're comfortable before proceeding — scalp injections are well-tolerated, but proper numbing makes a meaningful difference to the experience.

The PRP is then injected across the treatment area in a systematic pattern, targeting the areas of greatest concern. The appointment typically takes 45 to 60 minutes in total.

Afterwards, mild tenderness and occasional swelling at the injection sites is normal for a day or two. Most clients return to normal activities immediately. Avoid washing the hair for 24 hours post-treatment and steer clear of harsh products, heat styling, and anything that might irritate the scalp for the first few days.

Results:

  • When: Early improvements in shedding and scalp health typically noticed around 6 to 8 weeks. Visible improvements in density and thickness from 3 to 6 months

  • How long: Results from an initial series last 12 to 18 months. Maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months are recommended to sustain and build on results

  • What affects it: Stage of hair loss, age, hormonal factors, platelet quality, number of sessions, and consistency of maintenance

The most honest framing of PRP for hair: it is not a cure and it is not instant. It is a meaningful, evidence-based intervention that works best when started before significant loss has occurred and maintained consistently afterward. The clients who get the most from it are the ones who commit to the process.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

PRP hair restoration is appropriate for adults experiencing early to moderate hair thinning or loss who want a non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical approach. It suits all genders and hair types.

It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for clients with platelet disorders or blood thinning conditions, or for those with significant scarring alopecia — where follicles are no longer present in the affected area. If you're uncertain about the cause or type of your hair loss, a consultation is the right first step. Emily will assess your scalp, discuss your history, and give you an honest picture of what PRP can and cannot achieve in your specific situation.

If you've been sitting on this for a while, now is better than later. Follicle activity matters — and earlier treatment is consistently more effective.

The Questions People Actually Ask:

01. How many sessions do I need before I see results? Most clients complete an initial series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart before assessing results. Visible improvement in density and reduced shedding typically begins to show around month three and becomes more pronounced over the following months. One session alone can produce early improvement, but the full series is where the meaningful change happens.

02. Will this work for me specifically? The honest answer is — it depends on your hair loss type, stage, and underlying cause. PRP is most effective for androgenetic alopecia and diffuse thinning in clients who still have active follicles. It is less effective for advanced loss or scarring alopecia. A consultation will give you a realistic, personalised answer rather than a general one.

03. Can I use this alongside other hair loss treatments? Yes — PRP works well in combination with topical treatments like minoxidil and is increasingly used alongside hair transplant procedures to support recovery and improve graft survival. If you're currently using other treatments, let Emily know at consultation so she can advise on the best approach.

04. Is it painful? With proper numbing, most clients describe the injections as pressure rather than pain. The scalp is more sensitive than facial skin, and Emily takes the time to ensure adequate numbing before starting. The most common feedback is that it was more comfortable than expected.
