Microneedling with PRP

Your own biology, doing its best work.

PRP — platelet-rich plasma — is made from your own blood. A small sample is drawn, processed in a centrifuge, and the concentrated plasma that results is packed with growth factors that your body already knows how to use. Applied to the skin immediately after microneedling, it amplifies the healing response using the most biocompatible material possible: you.

This isn't new science dressed up in new language. PRP has decades of use across sports medicine, surgery, and regenerative medicine. In aesthetics, it works because the biology is sound — growth factors signal collagen production, accelerate tissue repair, and improve skin quality in ways that are measurable, visible, and yours.

What it Treats:

Microneedling with PRP is particularly effective for clients focused on regeneration and repair — whether that's reversing the effects of aging, addressing scarring, or improving overall skin density and resilience.

Most effective for:

Acne and surgical scarring · Fine lines and skin laxity · Skin texture and tone · Hair restoration on the scalp · Under-eye hollowing and crepiness · Skin thinning and loss of density · Post-pregnancy skin changes · Overall skin regeneration

What to Expect:

Your appointment begins with a small blood draw — a few vials, similar to a standard blood test. While the numbing cream is applied to the treatment area, your blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma. The microneedling treatment proceeds as normal, and the PRP is applied immediately after — absorbed directly through the microchannels into the dermis.

Post-treatment redness and sensitivity is normal and typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours. Some clients experience slightly more warmth and redness than standard microneedling in the first few hours — this is simply the enhanced healing response doing exactly what it's supposed to.

The blood draw is straightforward and takes only a few minutes. If the idea makes you nervous, tell Emily — she does this every day and has a way of making it entirely unremarkable.

Results:

  • When: Progressive improvement over 4 to 8 weeks per session as growth factors work and collagen remodels

  • How long:Long-lasting with a series; most clients treat two to three times initially then maintain annually or biannually

  • What affects it: Number of sessions, age, skin condition, platelet quality, and aftercare

PRP results are gradual by nature — they reflect real tissue change, not surface correction. Clients consistently describe the cumulative effect after a series as their skin feeling fundamentally different. Denser, stronger, more resilient. Like it used to be.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Microneedling with PRP is appropriate for most adults looking to address scarring, skin laxity, or overall skin quality through their body's own regenerative capacity. Because it uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic reaction to the treatment agent itself.

It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Clients on blood thinners or with certain platelet disorders should discuss suitability at consultation. If you have a significant needle aversion, let Emily know — she'll walk you through exactly what the blood draw involves so you can make an informed decision.

The Questions People Actually Ask:

01. Does the blood draw hurt? It's a standard venepuncture — the same as any blood test. Mild discomfort for a moment, nothing more. Emily is a registered nurse who has done this thousands of times. Most clients forget about it entirely once the treatment gets underway.

02. How is this different from microneedling with exosomes? Both enhance the standard microneedling treatment — PRP uses your own growth factors for a deeply biological healing response, while exosomes use stem-cell-derived signalling molecules for a more directed repair process. PRP tends to be the stronger choice for clients focused on regeneration, scarring, and hair restoration. Exosomes tend to suit those focused on skin quality, luminosity, and inflammation. If you're genuinely unsure, Emily will tell you which one makes more sense for your specific concerns.

03. How many sessions do I need? Three sessions spaced four weeks apart is the standard starting protocol. The improvement builds meaningfully with each session, and the cumulative effect of a full series is significantly greater than a single treatment. Maintenance from there depends on your goals and how your skin responds.
