Microneedling

Your skin's reset button. No lasers, no chemicals, no shortcuts.

The premise sounds counterintuitive until you understand what skin actually responds to. Create thousands of microscopic channels in the surface. Trigger a controlled healing response. Watch the skin rebuild itself — more collagen, better texture, improved tone — from the inside out.

Standard microneedling is one of the most effective skin treatments available precisely because it doesn't try to do the work for your skin. It just gives your skin a very compelling reason to do it itself. The result is gradual, which is another way of saying it looks real. And with each subsequent session, the foundation gets stronger.

At NEA, microneedling is performed using the DP4 microneedling device by Clarion — a medical-grade system chosen for its precision, consistency, and controlled depth delivery. The device allows Emily to customize the treatment depth and intensity based on your skin's specific needs and concerns, ensuring each session is calibrated to where your skin is that day.

What it Treats:

Microneedling uses a medical-grade device to create precise, controlled micro-injuries across the skin's surface. The healing process that follows stimulates collagen and elastin production — the structural proteins responsible for firm, smooth, youthful-looking skin.

Effective for:

Fine lines and wrinkles · Acne scarring · Enlarged pores · Uneven skin texture · Skin laxity · Stretch marks · Dull or uneven tone · Overall skin quality and resilience

What to Expect:

Topical numbing is applied 30 to 45 minutes before treatment to ensure you're comfortable throughout. The microneedling device is passed over the treatment area in a controlled pattern — the sensation is often described as a mild scratching or vibrating feeling. Most clients find it entirely manageable.

Immediately after, your skin will be red and flushed — similar in appearance to a moderate sunburn. This typically settles within 24 hours. Some clients experience mild swelling and sensitivity for a day or two. Most people are comfortable returning to normal activities the following day, with mineral SPF and gentle skincare only for the first 48 to 72 hours.

Results build over a series of treatments. Most clients start with three sessions spaced four weeks apart, then reassess. The improvement between session one and session three is the kind of thing that makes you start rescheduling proactively.

Results:

  • When: Initial glow visible within days, with progressive improvement over 4 to 6 weeks per session as collagen remodels

  • How long: Results accumulate with a series and are long-lasting with periodic maintenance — typically two to four times per year

  • What affects it: Number of sessions, skin condition, age, aftercare compliance, and ongoing sun protection

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Standard microneedling suits most adults looking to improve skin texture, tone, and resilience. It is particularly effective for acne scarring and enlarged pores. It is not suitable for clients with active acne breakouts, open wounds, certain skin conditions, or those who have recently used Accutane. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also contraindications.

If you're unsure whether this is the right starting point for your skin concerns, a consultation with Emily will get you a clear answer and a plan that makes sense.

The Questions People Actually Ask:

01. How many sessions do I actually need to see a difference? One session will give you a visible improvement in skin quality and radiance. Real, lasting change to texture, scarring, and laxity builds over a series. Three sessions is the standard starting point — by the end, the difference is significant enough that most clients don't need convincing to continue.

02. Can I wear makeup after? Not for the first 24 hours. After that, mineral-based products are fine. Full makeup can resume at 48 to 72 hours. Emily will give you specific aftercare instructions based on your skin — following them properly protects your investment.

03. Is it safe for all skin tones? Yes. Unlike laser treatments, microneedling is appropriate across all Fitzpatrick skin types and does not carry a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation when performed correctly.
